Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow in Rome

YESTERDAY: After my time in the air, which started from San Antonio, then to Austin, then to Detroit, then to Amsterdam, then to Rome, I was more than glad to finally arrive. I finally made it. To ROME! For someone that has low expectations and doesn't necessarily expect disappointment, but doesn't expect satisfaction either, it was a decent beginning. Once I looked past me getting lost in the airport and then the initial awkwardness of meeting new roommates (they're nice, let me put that out there), I felt the peace I so desperately needed. Due to my roommates' insistence, I participated in the neighborhood walk which is essentially a bunch of students walking around the area and seeing a bunch of different sights. Chilling in the back, I was mentally in my own world taking pictures and having other students talk to me because I absolutely suck at making new friends and meeting new people. Whoever says otherwise are LYING, but it worked just fine because I met some people that I have classes with.

TODAY: Today, my left foot is bruised to the point where I have to walk on my heels. Essentially, today we had our mandatory orientation session where he basically said that Italians have their "not-so-nice" impressions of us and that if we don't register to get our permit to stay, then we're illegal. Met FIT fashion-heavy students which I knew right away because they looked really good, and then I roamed in Rome lol. I was dying when I first said that, but I've just been exploring today. Found a bookstore and bought a book (almost got myself a job there), saw the Colosseum which is so pretty and big in person, crossed rivers, found the train station for my future trips, and ate 2 Euros pizza. Today was a success, and now I'm lying in bed about to dive into this book and remain unbothered.

TOMORROW: My call time is 8:30am. Super duper early, but totally worth it since I'll be participating in a student film. And on top of that, I have to dress like it's summer so perfect excuse to rock out the short sleeves and shorts. I'm just ready to start doing the things that I know I'm going to love like acting, creative writing, shooting, and filmmaking. The epitome of theater kid energy, what can I say? Anyways, classes start on Monday so fingers crossed that I'll be able to survive in them, but it's not like I have a choice.

  1. Awesome story! I think quaint bookstores are awesome, they are the perfect place to get lost in your own world. How did you almost get a job there? Love that you will be able to hop on a train to tour other countries, I wish our train system was the same, but one can only dream. Looking forward to your fun posts. P.S. Your pictures are great, keep them coming!

    1. We were yapping about books and I asked if there were anybody else working because it was just him, and he said no, it's just him. Then, I jokingly said "Oh, then you need to start hiring". He called his manager to potentially have me help out and get paid, but the manager said no.
