Growing up as a theater kid, I just have to put it out there that by no means am I a "theater kid". NO, I don't randomly sing Broadway tunes (life is not High School Musical). NO, I don't have a Rachel Berry mentality (as a true Gleek, that's not a flex). NO, I don't whip out the fake tears when I get a lead role in a play, at least not in front of people. I'm the theater kid that has Broadway posters on my wall alongside old movie posters and I'm talking Invasions of the Body Snatchers old. I know the whole soundtrack to Mean Girls: The Musical and yes, I was sat when Wicked: Part 1 was in theaters. Saw the movie twice and the Broadway show twice, so I'm the epitome of theater kid.
On an emotional ending note, acting was a way for me to overcome the speech disorder I grew up "suffering" from. It taught me how to speak in a way that people will understand, and even though the acting bug's poison didn't affect me until I was 13, I'm glad that years after my introduction to the theater, I'm still performing. Mark my words, I will be winning an Emmy in the future :)
